A safe bike lane is an oxymoron. Sharing the roadway with tons of steel is a risky proposition. Even dedicated bike paths like Ocean Parkway can be dangerous when bicycles and cars compete for space at the intersections. Too many motorists and cyclists blow past red lights and stop signs inviting disaster.
