#Citibike riders way down Ocean Parkway bike path in Brooklyn

I had to do a double-take when I recognized the distinctive blue Citibike color and square logo on two bikes on Ocean Parkway approaching the Belt Parkway. Impossible!  I hailed the two riders because I was very sure Citibike didn't have a docking locations way down here which meant they were a good five miles from the nearest bike share station.and I guessed the overtime charges would be huge.  The two girls from Belgium knew where they were heading and asked about any station on their way.  I hated to tell them that they were over miles from the nearest one.  They took this all in stride but they were still all smiles. Took some photos and they continued on to the beach but soon saw them again on their way back and they waved goodbye.  I sure hope they beat the overtime charges.
First Citibike sighting as they approach the Brighton Beach neighborhood.

Coney Island library branch reopens, nearly a year after Hurricane Sandy destroyed it

The entire first floor of the library was gutted and renovated after the storm wrecked the Coney branch.Coney Island library branch reopens, nearly a year after Hurricane Sandy destroyed it  - NY Daily News
(Excerpt)
The last of Brooklyn’s Sandy-slammed libraries has finally reopened — and it incorporates a fitting symbol of the superstorm that devastated six branches.
When officials cut the ribbon on the restored Coney Island branch Wednesday morning, they also showed off the coolest part of the gleaming facility: a ceiling that incorporates dozens of planks from the historic boardwalk that was also destroyed by the storm.
