Tree Carnage on Ocean Parkway

A beautiful stretch of the Ocean Parkway east mall  from Avenue Y and Avenue Z no longer has any trees.  The Parks Department has been manic in its removal of healthy trees although they say say it is because of Hurricane Sandy but one look of the top photo shows that the tree canopy was full.  But was this really necessary? Companies contracted by the Parks Department have removed a ridiculous number of trees along Ocean Parkway.  At a very high cost.

Brooklyn Half-Marathon on Ocean Parkway

Great day for a run. Not so great if you were in your car running on empty

Short video of Brooklyn halfmarathon on Ocean Parkway. Hardly anyone lining the route but there was something very peaceful without the din of cars and just the soft shuffling of thousands of people on their way to Coney Island.

Walkabout

Chin up. I love dogs who know how to pose.

Looking north from Avenue Y on the Ocean Parkway bike path.
The wedding cake building located on Avenue Y and Coney Island Avenue
Freaky and disturbing.
Took a walk around Neptune Avenue in Brighton and found this gem. Wouldn't this make a great movie set? Even the Balcony scene in West Side Story. "Tonight"
"Te adoro Antone...te adoro Maria."

Located on Brighton 3rd street off Neptune Avenue in Brighton Beach
